Water and Energy Saving through Design and Construction Project

 Description of the Project:

This project was aiming to raise awareness and building the professionals capacity in the proper insulation techniques and the solar water heaters. During the project duration about 1,500 engineer, contractor, and home owners has participated in the training courses and awareness sessions that was developed under this project.

The training courses were developed by specialized experts, where various parties from the public and private sectors were attracted in participating in such trainings. The courses where mainly focused on how to improve the solar water heater networks to reduce water loss resulting from faulty installation of the infrastructure. Also provided an introduction of the appropriate thermal insulation materials and codes corresponding to the surfaces in the home and the walls.

One of the main outputs of the project was the design and development of an electronic calculator, the first of its kind in the MENA region, the calculator calculates and provides the specific amount of provision that results from the thermal insulation and the amount of the wasted water when the installation and the solar heater are used incorrectly.
